Youth for Climate Action
The main project Transforming Youth Transforming Sri Lanka was initiated by AIESEC in Sri Lanka under the Youth for Global Goals. Among the major activity breakdowns the Youth Speak Forum was done under the step of understanding. It was aimed mainly to create an environment where people from diverse backgrounds cross pollinate ideas, share insights and gain new perspectives to create actionable outcomes on SDG 7- clean and affordable energy, SDG 12-responsible consumption and production and SDG 13-climate action. This programme was mainly focused for the youth between the ages 18-26 years. This was able to impact about 175 of young personalities in total.
The event was designed to the standard concept of a youth speak forum while taking care of the three key characteristics which are Inspire, Engage and Act. The event was held on a mass scale with four keynote speeches of four popular personalities in the field including a workshop where two of the key characteristics ‘Inspire’ and ‘Engage’ were achieved.
The significant parts of this program were the four keynote speeches and the topics that they were based on as well as the two topics that the workshops were based on, the topics and the respective speakers are mentioned here. The way they delivered the sessions and the spark that they created through their memorable speeches paved the way for the youth to gain a lot of information and also to act upon them to make this world a better place.
