ACCA Business Challenge

The month of January is a month full of interesting new events and change for AIESEC in University of Colombo. One such brand new venture is the ACCA Business Challenge, a business case study competition. Partnering with one of the leading professional education institutes in Sri Lanka, corporate sector and media agencies to bring this competition to the business-savvy youth. The ACCA Business Challenge is the first ever corporate competition organized by AIESEC in University of Colombo to enhance skills of young undergraduates as a leadership-oriented organization. This case study competition is for undergraduates who are from UGC recognized Universities in Sri Lanka. 

The main aim of this event is to make undergraduates practice and be familiar with the Top 10 skills for 2025 by the World Economic Forum. Those summarized skills are,  

  1. Analytical thinking 
  2. Active learning  
  3. Creativity 
  4. Technology design 
  5. Critical thinking  
  6. Leadership 
  7. Social influence 
  8. Emotional intelligence 
  9. Reasoning 
  10. System analysis  

If you don’t know how this competition will unfold , read this article to the end to resolve your concerns. During the course of the competition, participants will go through 3 rounds,

  • Simulation MCQ round 

This round consists of 30 multiple choice questions on an online platform that the delegate team will later specify. The date is currently set for the 15th of January and further instructions for participants will be mailed at a later date. Teams who pass this round will be notified on the following day. 

  • Semi – final round 

The semifinal round is a case study submission round. Your team will have 6 days from the date of release of the case to the teams who selected from the simulation round to submit your case study. Submissions will be open from 16th to 22nd of January. A panel of judges consisting of professionals at ACCA Sri Lanka will select the top five teams. Further details about this round will be notified through email correspondence by the delegates team. The winners of this round will be notified through mail and the Business challenge event page.

  • Grand finale 

The grand finale will be live streamed through the AIESEC Sri Lanka Facebook page. Each presentation of case study will consist of 10-minute live presenting followed by a 5-minute Q&A session by the panel of judges. The final winner will be chosen live during the grand finale on the 30th of January 2021. 

There are three prizes that will be given away on the finale,

  • The winner (team) – a prize of Rs.50,000 LKR
  • Honorable mention (team) – a prize of Rs.15,000 LKR
  • Best Pitcher (individual) – a prize of Rs. 10,000 LKR

For the Best Pitcher award, the panel of judges will select three nominees and the audience will get the chance to vote for the Best Pitcher!

AIESEC in University of Colombo will be posting the live streaming details of the grand finale, so make sure to join on the eve of January 30th to watch the spectacular end to this thrilling new venture.
