The most frequently used term in the modern era is leadership. Leadership skill has become an essential skill that is needed to be developed among the youth. When we start discussing what leadership is, we can arrive at many definitions. We can say that leadership is the ability of an individual to lead a group of people or organizations. Great leaders are the ones who bring out the sparkling fire in each individual. They start focusing on themselves to achieve their goals while driving the individuals together with them to achieve them. Being an AIESECer, throughout our AIESEC journey, we will have to face many obstacles and challenges. Therefore, there are four leadership qualities that AIESEC aims to develop leadership qualities in youth.

They are Global citizens, Self-awareness, Solution-oriented and empowering others.

Leadership Qualities of AIESEC

Global citizen

Being a Global citizen has become an important skill in the modern world as the business world has very few borders with developing technologies. AIESEC provides the youth with an opportunity to participate in events abroad such as attending conferences all around the world, meeting new people, facing various challenges and learning about that country’s culture. They also can provide their support to help fellow AIESECers in other countries by doing so.

Self-awareness

When a leader possesses self-awareness, he will know well about himself. He tends to have a clear picture on what he is good at, what his passions are and how he will react to certain situations. Self-awareness coupled up with self-reflection gives you a great idea allows for a better exploration of yourself. A self-aware leader focuses more on his strengths than his weaknesses. He figures out ways that he can overcome his weaknesses and create a positive impact in life.

The youth should be ready to face challenges and be flexible and resilient to changes in life. A solution-oriented leader will never fall down but rise up with new strategies to overcome any issues. This skill is highly important in a working environment where changes will occur anytime. An individual should be solution-oriented in both external and internal problems.

Empowering others

Our responsibility is to empower others and support them when in need. Communication plays an important role, when one communicates with others, they will be able to share the hardships they face and support them throughout. To empower others is that we have to live with kindness and empathy. We have to lead an example and inspire them by our actions. As AIESECers, we should be able to support our fellow mates to create a positive impact.

We believe that by developing these four qualities among youth, we can contribute to improving the world.
