IDEALIZE 2021  powered by Ideamart

AIESEC in University of Moratuwa always strives to positively impact society through the events they deliver. Intending to create a platform for the young and innovative minds in the country to discover and explore their unique skills, AIESEC in University of Moratuwa has come up with a great initiative which is a unique mobile application development competition called IDEALIZE 2021 powered by Ideamart. This event mainly focuses on unique and innovative ideas of the Sri Lankan youth in App making and allowing them to launch and market their Apps and further encouraging them in the tech area. This was a great opportunity for every young innovator to make their path to tackle the market and be successful in the IT world.

The event marked its commencement on 07th May 2021 by opening up registrations for both school and open categories. It set off to a great start with a staggering amount of 600+ delegates from all over the country. After the closing of registrations on the 21st of May,  awareness sessions were conducted for two days to give a clear idea to the registered delegates about the Ideamart Appmaker, proposal submission and the event timeline. The next stage was executed from the 31st  of  May onwards which was the Ideathon where all the teams were required to develop their innovative ideas into a proposal and submit it along with a video about their mobile App. 100+ proposal submissions were there for the ideathon round and 75 teams were selected out of them for the next round. Then a series of insightful and informative mentoring sessions were conducted to motivate and shape up the skills of the delegates to transform their innovative ideas into a functioning business. Mr.Malinda Alahakoon, Ms.Sammani Kusaladharma, Mr.Dineth Egodage, Ms.Amanda Kaludura and Mr.Heminda Jayaweera who are some of the potential masterminds in the industry graced these sessions with their presence by joining as speakers. A week was given to the contestants from the 14th of June to develop their Apps. After developing the App, contestants were directed to an evaluation round where they had to pitch their ideas and demonstrate how the App works in front of a judging panel and 30 teams were selected from the evaluations for the next round, the semi-final.

Next was the launching of the Apps. During this period, delegates were expected to launch their mobile application to the play store and then, a go-to-market period of 4 weeks was given to the delegates to grow their mobile App user base and revenue.
