what is aqua?

Project Aqua was initiated with the intention of addressing the vital issue of inequalities of clean water, sanitation and hygiene in Sri Lanka. Our goal is to raise awareness among the society about the importance of clean water and sanitation and distribute Reverse Osmosis (RO) water filters to the areas where the chronic kidney disease (CKD) is common among the people.  

One of the major activities of Project Aqua has been providing clean water facilities to underprivileged communities. Reverse Osmosis (RO) water filters have been provided to Punewa Maha Vidyalaya, Anuradhapura, Serana Primary School, Mahiyanganaya, Gamunugama Maha Vidyalaya, Girandurukotte Maha Vidyalaya, Girandurukotte, K B Rathnayke Vidyalaya, Anuradhapura, Periyankulama Ashoka Maha Vidyalaya, Anuradhapura and A/Wimalagnana Vidyalaya, Thanthirimale. 


Further, beach and forest cleanups were carried out alongside awareness sessions. Volunteers were also able to visit Water Treatment Plants.

  • Field visits to water treatment plants.

7 schools fixed with RO water filters

In the Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Mahiyanganaya areas

2600+ Individuals provided with clean water
